The Seven Fires Prophecy Suite for Humanity Concert

 featuring

Singer/Songwriter, Kim Moberg and Fiddler, Heather Swanson

Join us for a very special musical performance of an original suite composed by Indigenous (Tlingit) artist Kim Moberg that tells the ancient yet relevant Anishinaabe legend in song. The hour long performance will include a short talk by Moberg, a brief video by Canadian Indigenous artist Erin Stagg (whose painting is used for the album cover art), followed by the live concert performed by Kim and local fiddler/violist Heather Swanson.

ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE: Many years ago the Anishinaabe people of Turtle Island were visited by prophets who offered predictions about the future of humanity. Each prediction addressed a specific period in time and was referred to as a “fire”. This timely legend teaches the importance of living with respect for people of all colors and cultures in addition to living in harmony with our environment.

This program is appropriate for all ages, but best suited for ages 7 and up. This program is funded in part by a grant from the Sandwich Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

ABOUT THE PERFORMERS: Kim Moberg is an award winning singer/songwriter and self taught, finger pick style guitarist. Her passionate and heartfelt vocals mesmerize listeners while her compositions tug at feelings of melancholy, heartbreak, healing and social consciousness. Born in Juneau, Alaska, Moberg is the daughter of a classical pianist mother of Alaskan Native Tlingit descent and a US Coast Guard veteran father from Kansas. Music was the constant in Kim's childhood, helping her to adjust to the frequent moves associated with growing up in a military family.

At the age of 14, Kim began playing acoustic guitar on a borrowed nylon 6 string but debilitating stage fright kept her from pursuing her dream of becoming a professional performer. In 2014 Kim set out to overcome her stage fright and wrote her first song. Kim teamed with Grammy-nominated producer Jon Evans to record three albums, all receiving world wide airplay in addition to charting on the Folk Alliance International Folk DJ and NACC radio charts. Kim’s latest release “The Seven Fires Prophecy Suite for Humanity” features songs that tie ancient Anishinaabe prophecies to our current social environment. Kim 4th album titled “All That Really Matters” will be released in January 2026.

Kim has received numerous recognitions, most recently 2025 New England Music Awards nominee (Best Americana Act), 2021 Rocky Mountain Songwriting Contest Finalist, 2021 Great American Songwriting Contest Folk/Americana Finalist, 2020 CT Folk Grassy Hill Songwriting Competition Winner, 2020 Blues and Roots Radio Contest Finalist and 2020 Corpus Christi Songwriters Spring Songwriters Contest 2nd Place.

She is a member of Recording Academy/Grammys, ASCAP, Folk Alliance International, Americana Music Association, Rhode Island Songwriters Association, Arts Foundation of Cape Cod and Sandwich Arts Alliance. Kim is a strong believer in the importance of giving back and being active. She offers her music and time at events to support her local community such as founder and former host of the monthly Craigville Coffeehouse Open Mic, former board member for Vinegrass (a non-profit organization that provides scholarships for music students) and founder and co-event manager of the annual Sandwich Arts Alliance PorchFest. She is an inaugural member of the legendary Club Passim’s THE FOLK COLLECTIVE formed by Club Passim to collaborate and present inclusive and equitable events that welcome and invite diverse audiences and artists to the Passim stage.  For more information about the performer, please visit her website: www.kimmobergmusic.com

"Kim’s mighty pen is a source of amazing material that bridges the past with the future. She brings stories to life with harmonious melodies, and nothing can be more representative of that than her brand new LP Up Around The Bend. Kim’s stories are real, relatable and can connect each and every listener to their substance. In this world there are some people who write true organic music, music so real, and so important for our times, and that is Kim Moberg. It doesn’t hurt that she has an amazing voice to go with it!!” -Jon Sexauer, Country, American, Roots, Blues Music Promotion
