Sandwich Public Library Writing Workshop Series
Calling all aspiring and accomplished writers! Join us for our very special Writer Workshops featuring local authors!
We've gathered 7 authors to facilitate more than 15 writing workshops over an 8 week period thanks to a generous gift donation from the Boucher Family Charitable Gift Fund. The workshops will be held during February and March, 2025. We have coordinated a wide variety of writing workshops covering different writing genres including: plays/screenwriting, historical fiction, memoir, domestic thriller, children's books, intuitive writing, and poetry, just to name a few. Please see the Library website HERE for a full list of the writing workshops being offered, or go to the library Event Calendar for information on each specific workshop. Sign up for a few workshops, or ALL. We hope to see you there!
In this workshop, we welcome local author Christina Nordstrom with of the Cape Cod Writers Center.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP: Nordstrom will guide participants to begin the process of creating their own Cookbook. Come get an overview of how you or your organization might go about publishing your own cookbook – one you create for family and friends, or one published to sell for a fundraiser. All participants are asked to bring a notebook to write in, along with pencils, pens, or your laptop.
ABOUT THE FACILITATOR: In this workshop, we welcome local author Christina Nordstrom, Member of the Literary Arts Advisory Group of the Sandwich Arts Alliance. The idea for the Schnufka’s Bakers little recipe book came about while Nordstrom was sewing together various patchwork pieces of her life – retirement, a child’s story, her Swedish and Celtic families’ traditions, a love of baking, and living through the Covid 19 pandemic. In her book she shares her story about how she used the recipes to make community connections throughout the lockdown; and she sees her recipe book as a complement to her life’s work as a health educator and creating “Healthy Communities.” She says that, while she’s always promoted healthy, wholesome foods, wisdom has taught her over many years about the need to make room in life for enjoying a special treat now and then with family and friends!
Christina has drawn from the many facets of her life to create several nonfiction works. She received Feathered Quill Book Review’s 2018 Bronze Award for Debut Author for her work, “The Park Street Angels – a chronicle of hope.” Other works include writing “Oh, and the morning” and editing and co-authoring “Angel from El Salvador.” As a singer-songwriter her original tunes include such themes as social justice, peace-making, finding one’s place in the world, the joys (and challenges) of parenting, helping children make healthier choices, the lighter side of aging and exploring life’s spiritual connections.
